IFRTD nominated as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Planning of the 4th African Road Safety Congress.

IFRTD has been invited to be a member of the advisory committee that is helping to organise the 4^th African Road Safety Congress. The congress is scheduled to take place in Accra Ghana, 5-7^th February 2007.

The Congress aims to advance the Road Safety agenda in Africa, ahead of the First UN Road Safety Week, planned for April 2007

The Economic Commission for Africa  [ECA] and the World Health Organization [WHO], are coordinating the preparations for the Congress.

The first meeting of the committee was held on 21^st of September 2006 at the ECA headquarters in Addis Ababa.  IFRTD was represented by Peter Njenga, the coordinator for Eastern and Southern Africa. IFRTD is expected to ensure rural transport safety issues are given visibility during and after the congress.
